Food, glorious food!

Food, glorious food!
Hot sausage and mustard!
While we're in the mood --
Cold jelly and custard!
Peas, pudding and saveloys!

Food, glorious food!
We're anxious to try it.
Three banquets a day --
Our favourite diet!

Just picture a great big steak --
Fried, roasted or stewed.
Oh, food,
Wonderful food,
Marvellous food,
Glorious food.

This is how Mummy was hoping i would view food but to be honest I haven't really grasped the point of it all yet. I have always been a little bit naughty when it comes to being fed. Mummy and Daddy give me lots of warm, white liquid in a bottle. I've heard them telling my big sister that it is my 'milkies' so that must be what it is called. I think i am supposed to drink the whole bottle but there is always so much else to look at so i normally take a little bit then stop. Mummy and Daddy have come to accept (i think) that i don't always have time to drink it all as there is so much learning to be done. I heard them talking to each other and they were saying that hopefully i would take to food better. I think i still have a way to go though!

Here am i about to be given my very first taste of solid food.

Mummy and Daddy started me on baby rice. It was ok. I was secretly thinking though that the fruit you can see next me looked much tastier. They quickly moved me onto sweet potato and i think this is when i reminded them how messy weaning is.......

I have now tried potato and cheese, broccoli, carrot, butternut squash, yoghurt, apple, pear, and melon. With every one of them i've had the same reaction.... i roll it round my mouth and spit it back out again. I think i'm doing something wrong though as Mummy looks so pleased with me when i take the food but her face changes when i spit it back out.

My Nanny keeps saying that my Mummy is cruel as she hasn't let me try chocolate yet. My Mummy never laughs when she says this. I haven't had any other Mummy so it is hard to decide but i don't think she's cruel, i think she's great!

Today Mummy let me try some finger food.... Bread and cucumber sticks. It was excellent having the chance to feed myself. I hope Mummy will let me do that again, especially since i showed her that i liked that way of eating as i smiled lots at her everytime she put some food in my hand.

My big sister has a sticker chart and she gets given a sticker every time she tries all the food on her plate. Her and Mummy and Daddy get so excited when she gets a sticker so if i could talk i would tell them all that i want stickers as it seems to be helping my sister to eat. One day i want to be a big girl like her and eat what she eats.

Look at me!!!

This week i have been a busy girl. I have been practising sitting up for a while now. Mummy has been putting me in my GALT farm playnest. I think it is supposed to encourage me to sit up but i just liked to lay back in it and watch the world go by.

Here i am with my sister.

Mummy had begun to sit me up in between her legs while playing with my sister and had started to move away a little bit. On Saturday i decided it was time to impress her and so i concentrated really hard on sitting up and it worked.
Just look how clever i am!!! I am always very happy and smiley but every time Mummy or Daddy get the camera out a orange light comes on so i always stop laughing to try and work out what is happening.

Now i can sit up life is even better than it was. I can reach for toys and look at them in my hands rather than laying on my back and looking at things above my head. My sister keeps showing me toys i haven't seen before and i'm hoping soon she will let me have them for longer so i can look at them more closely.

Today though i am not as happy as i was as my mouth started to really hurt again. I was really upset in the night but Mummy and Daddy gave me some pink medicine which helped me go back to sleep. Then when Mummy and i were shopping today she put her finger in my mouth and told me that my top two teeth had cut through which was why i wasn't very happy. She is so kind though, she stopped at the pharmacy and brought me some Anbesol. It is brilliant.... as soon as Mummy rubbed it on my gum it stopped my mouth hurting so i went back to laughing and smiling at her.

Next time i'll let you know how i am getting on with trying food and Daddy said i should show you some of the reactions i've had to some of the tastes.

Beautiful BabyTales

Hi all.

My name is Fearne and I am 6 months old today. I have decided to start a blog to tell you about all the great things I'm learning to do and all the great things i am learning about, the amazing world around me and of course all the wonderful toys I am beginning to play with.

Let me tell you a bit about my family. I have an older sister who will be 3 in January. I think she really likes me as she cuddles me and gives me lots and lots of kisses. She does, however, not always like me playing with certain toys so she makes me cry sometimes when she snatches them away from me.

My Mummy is really nice to me. She is always blowing raspberries on my tummy. I've heard her talking to Daddy about her job as a teacher, although i don't know what that means yet. My Mummy likes to talk and talk and talk!! I think she will probably write a couple of  posts of her own on here when i let her!!

My Daddy is the best. He goes out the door every morning but when he walks back in later in the day, he always makes me smile and normally he picks me up and starts trying to eat my belly. Maybe he is hungry? He talks to Mummy about his day at school, although I am still trying to learn what that means.

I am looking forward to sharing with you all of my 'firsts'. One of the first big ones happened to me today. I woke up last night with my mouth hurting but luckily Mummy and Daddy came and gave me a cuddle. This morning Mummy stuck one of her fingers in my mouth then got all excited and rang Daddy to tell him that she'd found that my first two teeth had cut through. She then told my sister that it means i can start chewing things like cheese and cucumber soon which sounds exciting. I'll let you know how that goes!!

Until the next time - Fearne.
